Taiwan: NT$80 billion announced for flood control

The government of Taiwan has announced a budget of approx NT$80 billion (US$ 2.48 billion) for water management and flood prevention and control projects across the island for next year, according to the China Times.

Speaking at a national water management conference held in Taipei City, Premier Wu Den-yih, emphasized that in the face of the threats posed by global warming, Taiwan would only be able to avoid flood disasters through the implementation of national land conservation measures.
