Pakistan: Flood preparedness

Source(s): Dawn Media Group

Dawn.com reports that the National Disaster Management Authority has called for investments in disaster preparedness, as the monsoon season is approaching in the area. Preparations for early warnings and evacuation plans are also called for. Following the 2010 floods that had devastating effects on the country, waterways and dykes have been partially repaired. Encroachments on waterways in Sindh still cause problems, and the repairs have not been finished on the Left Bank Outfall Drain in Sindh.
