The DRMKC looks forward to capitalize the existing knowledge from policy-makers, practitioners and scientists on disaster risk in order to propose paths of future action. Based on the recommendations provided by authors of the Science for DRM 2017, knowing better and losing less, we have started to prepare the second Report in the "Science for Disaster Risk Management" flagship series, with the subtitle acting today, protecting tomorrow.
We aim at broadening the understanding of current and future risks faced in Europe, focusing on the consequences suffered by different assets, such as population, the environment and economic sectors. We believe that knowing the causes and drivers of risks would serve us to move from identifying needs to develop solutions and new approaches.
The Science for DRM 2020: acting today, protecting tomorrow Report is produced thanks to collaboration of many partners. More than 200 experts engaged in disaster risk management, coming from academia, governmental agencies, ministries, civil protection groups, research organizations, civil society organizations and the private sector, are currently involved in the preparation of the Report.
The Report Science for DRM 2020 is divided in six chapters, each of these prepared by various teams of authors. The content will be revised by independent External Reviewers, in charge of commenting on the accuracy and completeness of text according to their own experience and knowledge, following a review template given by the DRMKC. The external review process will take around four weeks, starting in September 2019. All names will be acknowledged.
Everybody is welcome to participate as External Reviewer. We would need different disciplines, expertise and sectors to tackle the many dimensions of disaster risk impact. If interested, please contact us.
