By Montserrat Marin Ferrer

On the wake of the DRMKC flagship Report launched in May 2017, 'Science for Disaster Risk Management – knowing better and losing less', we are glad to share with you the proposed Table of Contents for the new Report, to be published in 2020.

The 2017 Report covered the DRM cycle through a scientific hazard-based approach, using a bridge concept from science to application covering three parts: understanding risk, communicating risk and managing risk. In a natural follow-up targeting end-users, the 2020 Report will approach the DRM cycle through impacts and assets at risk, based on case studies to illustrate best practices for better prevention and risk management in general.

This is the first step in a long open process we wish to be even more participated and interdisciplinary than in the previous one – we therefore invite you to consult the new link in our website and provide your feedback and comments until December 3rd 2017, to our email ec-drmkc@ec.europa.eu. Please feel free to share and disseminate this public consultation among your contacts and networks.

The final materials will integrate the Terms of Reference for launching an open call for Authors, Reviewers and Advisors, which we plan to hold between late December 2017 and late February 2018.

We thank you in advance for your attention and interest, and look forward to counting on your expertise for the 2020 Science for DRM Report.
