The Naples Airport hosted “Operation Mutual Response” a multi-agency disaster preparedness exercise designed to fully test activation, operational plans, policies and procedures as they pertain to responding to and recovering from an incident on the Naples Airport property. The Naples Airport invites all media to come and observe the airport, city and county’s most vital agencies working together to exercise their skills, talents, and equipment in responding to a simulated emergency.

The following local agencies will be participating:

  • Naples Airport Authority
  • Collier County Emergency Management
  • City of Naples Fire Department
  •  City of Naples Police Department
  •  Collier County EMS
  • Collier County Sheriff’s Office
  •  Collier County Medical Examiner
  • NCH Healthcare System • Physician’s Regional Medical Center
  • FlexJet
  • American Red Cross
  • Charlotte County Airport Authority (PGD)
  • Lee County Port Authority Fire Rescue (RSW)
  • Lorenzo Walker Technical College

Participants will react to the simulated incident in the same manner as if the scenario was real. Participants do not know the details of the simulation until the exercise begins to fully utilize and test the Mass Casualty Incident Standard Operating Guidelines in determining resource needs and performing appropriate notifications for an airplane-related incident. The Press Observation Area will be located at the end of Corporate Flight Drive, Naples, Florida. The exercise begins promptly at 10:00 AM and will conclude by approximately at 11:00 AM.

About Naples Airport

Naples Airport is ideally located within minutes of downtown Naples, the Gulf of Mexico and I-75, connecting people to the Paradise Coast through an exceptional airport experience. The airport serviced 122,281 annual operations in the last fiscal year, while being an engaged, responsive partner to the community. Home to corporate aviation, air charter operators, car rental agencies, flight schools and nonaviation businesses, the airport is also a central location for critical public services, including fire/rescue, air ambulance services, mosquito control, the Collier County Sheriff’s Aviation Unit and other community services. The airport also prides itself on being the hub of emergency staging during natural disasters, like hurricanes and tornadoes, for first responders, lighting, and power crews. All funds used for the airport’s operation, maintenance and improvements are generated from activities at the airport or federal and state grants from aviation-related user fees. The airport receives no local tax dollars. The Florida Department of Transportation values the airport’s annual economic impact on the community at more than $781 million.
