Myanmar: 'Villages see economic benefits of infrastructure projects'
Reporter Than Htike Oo describes how a World Vision project to upgrade roads is intended to reduce vulnerability to disasters and at the same time provide economic benefits. 'This is part of our disaster risk reduction (DRR) plan, but better infrastructure in the villages also leads to higher income generation' said U Myat Htet Aung Min, a DRR technical coordinator.
World Vision has helped to build and renovate 25 roads in Pyapon township and another 21 in Bogale township. According to the organization, the primary aim of upgrading the infrastructure is to reduce vulnerability to future disasters.
