Mercy Malaysia on 19 October signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NGC Energy for the School Preparedness Programme (SPP) aimed at minimising the risks posed by natural disasters in Malaysia. The one year programme set to kick off in February 2016 was the the first ever collaboration between the two organisations.

The honorary treasurer of Mercy Malaysia, Ir. Aman Mahzan in his speech said through these initiatives, the programme will increase the capacity of schools to respond to natural disaster as well as increase the community's awareness about the importance of disaster preparedness and how to remain safe in these situations. "Together with NGC Energy, we hope to teach students about disaster preparedness that will help build a greater awareness across the whole community," he said.
