India: UN praise for Odisha disaster management

The Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) for Disaster Risk Reduction, Margareta Wahlström, spoke Monday with Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and appreciated effective handling of cyclone Phailin. According to the Times of India, the United Nations plan to use this successful case study as a model for other cities and countries to follow as part of the global efforts on disaster risk reduction, and a delegation will visit to document the process followed by the state government.
