As the head of the student task force team for disaster risk reduction in her village, Sonam (12) " is an agent of social change" and is trying to convince district authorities "to make children a part of the DRR initiative" writes The Hindu.

Sonam told delegates, “we do not want to be looked upon as vulnerable segment, but we want be part of the team. We request the authorities concerned to build stronger schools that can withstand disasters and better the communication system in villages. A proper plan on school disaster management should be in place”.
