India: Govt reviews quake preparedness

The Times of India reports that Delhi revenue minister AK Walia along with senior officials, reviewed the disaster preparedness at a meeting on Wednesday and decided to name structural engineers who will help secure and retrofit old buildings.

"The National Disaster Management Authority and Delhi Disaster Management Authority will join hands to launch an awareness campaign later this month to inform people about their role during a disaster and how they can protect themselves and others in such situations," he said.
