Canada: Northern activists arrive at Durban climate talks

Source(s): Radio Canada

Canada's Northerners arrived in Durban for the 17th Conference of Partis (COP 17), reports CBC/Radio-Canada.

Daniel Daniel T'seleie of the Dene nation, one of the activists from Northern Canada in Durban, told the CBC that indigenous knowledge needs to be considered when working on climate change adaptation as indigenous people are the first to witness the effects of a warming planet. "We know that as indigenous people we have a lot of knowledge that is relevant to ecosystem, and that knowledge needs to be used when working on climate change adaptation."
