"Australia and our partners will reduce the risks from climate change-related natural disasters and threats to food and water security, helping 500,000 vulnerable people," said Australian Ambassador to Vietnam, Hugh Borrowman, reports Tuitrenews.

The Australian government will partner with six international NGO's to help Vietnam's community based climate change adaptation efforts. The USD 15 million funding is part of Australia's USD599 million global 'fast-start' climate change finance commitment in the 2010-2013 period. Vietnam is highly vulnerable to climate change induced sea level rise, salt water intrusion and flooding.
