Severe weather forecasting and disaster risk reduction demonstration project (SWFDDP)
The Pilot phase of the Severe Weather Forecasting and Disaster risk reduction Demonstration Project (SWFDDP) will make way for the full demonstration phase with the addition of 5 new participating National Meteorological Hydrological Services (NMHSs) from 1 November 2010.
The 1st Regional Sub-project Management Team (RSMT) meeting was held in Wellington during 21-24 April 2009, and the 2nd one will also take place in Wellington, during 1-4 November 2010. The RSMT is composed of members representing the various meteorological centres whether they be NWP or operational, from the global and regional to national perspectives as well as two disaster risk reduction officials. The RSMT, through the chair, Steve Ready is responsible for the oversight of the project and its day to day running especially in relation to the performance of the SWFDDP website, MetConnect Pacific, and participant's involvement is clearly mapped out in the Regional Sub-project Implementation Plan (RSIP).
