Background

The summit on Natural Disaster Reduction International Day for Disaster Reduction 2015 aims to raise awareness among NGOs and local groups active in the area of disaster management and natural disasters. On 19 October 2015 the conference was attended by more than 60 experts and officials of the National Disaster Management Office, as well as the people involved and interested in Tehran disaster mitigation and management organization.

  1. The role and importance NGOs in disaster management
  2. Strategies to create an enabling environment for local communities and NGOs in the design and implementation of programs to reduce disaster risk
  3. Development strategies, role of NGOs and local groups in safety programs and disaster resilience
  4. National Disaster Management Office deficiencies, organizations and authorities in leveraging the capacities of NGOs
  5. Citizens' knowledge of prevention, retrofitting and crisis management for life
