International conference on forestry education and research for the Asia

This year the College of Forestry and Natural Resources of the University of the Philippines Los Banos is celebrating its 100th year.  In line with this the International Conference on Forestry Education and Research for the Asia-Pacific Region is to be held on 23-25 November 2010 in Manila, Philippines with the theme: 'Forestry education and research responding to changing needs.' 
 
In general, the conference aims to strengthen the contribution of forestry education and research towards sustainable forest management in the context of changing priorities and needs of the Asia Pacific Region.  Specifically, it hopes to:

(1) assess the state of forestry education and research in the Asia Pacific Region;
(2) identify major issues and challenges confronting the forestry education and research sectors;
(3) initiate the process of charting the future direction of forestry education and research. 
 
The conference will be highlighted by paper presentations of world renowned experts in the fields of forestry education and research.  Aside from plenary sessions, the conference will also provide opportunity to voluntary paper presentations during the concurrent sessions.  In this regard, we would like to invite you to submit abstract focusing on any of the following themes:

(1) marketing the forestry profession,
(2) evolving forestry education models,
(3) continuing forestry education,
(4) current developments in forestry research,
(5) forestry education and research interface,
(6) collaborative forestry education and research,
(7) institutional barriers to forestry education and research, and
(8) forests and climate change.  

Deadline for abstract submission is on May 31, 2010.
