Celebrating international day for natural disaster reduction

The training was organised at Kotarpur Fire Training Centre jointly by Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority, Ahmedabad Fire & Emergency Services, Publicity Department of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.

As a part of this celebration, various awareness generation and capacity building activities at different levels were taken up world over. In the past years, GSDMA has celebrated Disaster Reduction Day by taking up wide range of activities all across the state.

To create awareness amongst people, display of search and rescue equipments along with search & rescue operation was conducted. The activities conducted included:

1. High angle rope rescue
2. Search from collapsed structure, well, tunnel, river crossing
3. Rescue from collapsed and confined space like well, tunnel
4. Emergency care for victims

A 30 minutes talk show was organised on the local news channel GTPL which included panel of experts namely Chief Fire Officer, Ahmedabad Mr. M.F. Dastoor and Major Shwetang Trivedi (ANO) lecturer at National Cadet Corps who talked about the role of citizens in Disaster Risk Reduction for a safer city.
