The HATIKOU Disaster Prevention Education Project will participate in Bousai Kokutai 2026, Japan’s national disaster prevention event, organized by the Cabinet Office of Japan and other national disaster prevention organizations.

The project will present the workshop: “Let’s Dance Bousai Ondo with HACHIKO! – Music-Based Mutual-Aid Disaster Education and Shelter Resilience Program.”

The program is based on a disaster risk reduction concept inspired by the speech delivered by then Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction.

1. Disaster Prevention Film

The 15-minute film “Shibuya Disaster Prevention Town Development,” directed by HATIKOU, presents the concept of a high-functioning disaster-resilient complex combining schools, housing and a hospital. It encourages people to consider disaster risk reduction through urban planning.

The film received awards in nine categories at the Tokyo AI Disaster Prevention Film Festival.

2. Shelter Resilience through Music

Participants will learn and dance together to “Bousai Ondo,” a disaster-prevention song written by HATIKOU, Music by Solty Kay.

The activity uses music, rhythm and movement to help people cope with disaster-related stress, strengthen connections in evacuation shelters, and experience mutual aid and community resilience.

3. Three DRR Themes

  1. Raising disaster awareness

“Bousai Ondo” is distributed through Tune Core to 185 countries and territories.

  1. Disaster risk reduction through urban planning

The film presents how disaster resilience can be considered at the city and community level through urban development and disaster-resilient buildings.

  1. Mutual aid and community resilience

Participants experience how music and physical activity can create connections among people and contribute to stronger communities that support one another during disasters.
