The principal responsibilities of the Technical Director, Flood and Coastal Storm Damage Reduction (TDF) are: serve as the technical lead for ERDC in flood risk management; manage the Flood and Coastal Storm Damage Reduction Research Area; establish and maintain good working relationships with other agencies, interest groups, professional associations, external clients, and ERDC team members; and generate, cultivate, and market ideas for flood and coastal storm damage reduction research and reimbursable work. The TDF accomplishes these responsibilities through individual and group initiatives within a Technical Programs Office consisting of other TD's, Associate TD's (ATD's), Program Managers (PM's), Assistants, and Program Support Assistants.

Qualifications required

- This position is covered by the Science and Technology Laboratory Personnel Management Demonstration Project and this pay band includes the General Schedule grade equivalent to GS-15. To qualify for DB-05 level applicants must posses specialized experience equivalent to the DB-04 level. Specialized experience is defined as experience in developing, marketing and managing R&D programs and reimbursable studies, leadership in flood and coastal storm damage reduction research, maintaining/creating relationships with customers and sponsors, implementing technical elements for strategic plans, identification of future resource needs, review of technical documents, and mentoring.
