Background:
Tetra Tech ARD, a leading international development consulting firm based in Burlington, Vermont and Washington, D.C., is currently accepting expressions of interest from qualified technical specialists on a three year USAID-funded adaptation to climate change project in Africa and Latin America. The technical specialists will based in a project office in Washington, D.C.
The work will focus on developing science-based climate change vulnerability assessments and tools, particularly with relation to agriculture and food security, but also water, biodiversity and conflict. The project will provide outreach, training and meeting, support, contribute to knowledge development and management and offer technical support to USAID missions and bureaus, primarily in Africa, but also with targeted assistance to Latin American and Caribbean countries.
Vulnerability assessment specialist and/or economist:
- Ph.D. in a relevant field, with a specialization in methodologies relevant to developing and implementing vulnerability assessments, and/or performing economic policy scenario analyses.
- Experience in training and public communication is also desired.
- Six or more years of progressively responsible work experience in managing and implementing adaptation programs or programs in agriculture and natural resource management.
- Ten years of substantial managerial and technical experience, with demonstrated background in sub-Saharan Africa.
Climate scientist:
- Ph.D. in climate or a related field, with substantial understanding of predictive modeling, including global circulation modeling and downscaling techniques.
- Six years of work experience in applying predictive models to decision making.
- Six years of substantial managerial and technical expertise.
- Demonstrated background in sub-Saharan Africa.
Additional technical experts:
- In the following areas, with climate change adaptation experience preferred:
communications specialist, training and adult learning specialist, evaluation/impact specialist, agriculture and adaptation specialist.
Other:
- U.S. citizenship or a valid U.S. work permit is mandatory for all positions.
