Contract Type: Partnership agreement or MoU, scope depending on contribution type selected (technical, financial, research, or co-design collaboration). Not a standard employment contract.

Duration: Approx. 6-7 months, January 2027 through project completion (indicative; final duration to be confirmed with partner scope)

Job/Opportunity Description

SERC is seeking one or more partner organizations to collaborate on a GEDSI-focused needs assessment across three flood-prone districts in Nepal, following the 2026 Bhotekoshi and Trishuli floods. The assessment will identify barriers to disaster preparedness, evacuation and recovery faced by women, persons with disabilities, LGBTQI+ individuals, children, older people, and Dalit and indigenous communities, and generate evidence to inform inclusive disaster risk reduction policy and practice.

Responsibilities

Depending on the collaboration type selected, partner responsibilities may include:

  • Conducting onsite flood risk assessments and vulnerability mapping
  • Contributing technical input to research design and GEDSI-lens data collection tools
  • Co-facilitating key informant interviews and focus group discussions
  • Providing financial support toward district-level fieldwork
  • Reviewing and validating findings
  • Co-designing the resulting inclusive DRR action plan and provincial policy brief
  • Supporting dissemination through the capacity-building ToT workshop and partner networks

Requirements / qualifications

  • International or national organization, foundation, bilateral donor, UN agency, humanitarian/development partner, CSR initiative, research institution, or organization of persons with disabilities (OPD)
  • Demonstrated experience in disaster risk reduction, GESI/GEDSI, or disability-inclusive development
  • Prior experience working with marginalized or at-risk communities in Nepal preferred, not mandatory
  • Ability to commit to the project timeline (collaboration confirmed by 31 October 2026; project start January 2027)

Compensation / funding Range

Not applicable as individual salary. Estimated financial contribution range for funding partners: USD 8,000-15,000 per district (three districts total). Actual terms depend on the type and scope of collaboration agreed (technical, financial, research, or co-design), and are negotiated directly with SERC, not fixed as a posted rate.
