Call for experts for IPCC Task Group on Data Support for Climate Change Assessments

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is inviting nominations of experts to serve in the Task Group on Data Support for Climate Change Assessments (TG-Data).

The deadline is: 10 April 2025

The TG-Data work mainly requires but is not restricted to, data specialists, with expertise in areas such as data provenance, scientific workflows, climate data handling systems, FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) Data principles, and development and/or analysis of climate and observational datasets.

Background

At the 47th Session of the IPCC (Paris, France, 13 – 16 March 2018), the Panel adopted the Terms of Reference (TORs) for the TG-Data and guidance for the IPCC Data Distribution Centre (DDC). The TORs were amended by the Panel at the 49th Session of the IPCC in Decision IPCC-XLIX-6.

The members are selected by the IPCC Bureau from nominations of experts solicited by the IPCC Secretariat from governments and observer organizations.

How to nominate

Please send your nomination(s), including

for submission in English by 10 April to Megha Sud, Senior Science Officer at [email protected]. The nominations will then be submitted to the IPCC for consideration.

In case of selection, nominees or their organizations are expected to provide travel and subsistence support for the participation of TG-Data members in the activities of the Task Group including the face-to-face meetings that are held annually. In cases where this is not possible, the IPCC Trust Fund will endeavour to provide travel and subsistence support for TG-Data members from developing countries and countries with economies in transition.
