The international climate initiative of the Federal Republic of Germany

This document describes the German government’s climate initiative as a practical example of how to provide financial support to international projects supporting climate change mitigation, adaptation and biodiversity projects with climate relevance.

It aims to triggers private investments of a greater magnitude, and to ensure that financed projects strategically support the post-2012 climate change negotiations. For this purpose, it support multilateral activities and funds focusing on adaptation and forest management, and encourages implementation of selected parts of national and regional programmes for adaptation to climate change.
