UNEP 2008 annual report

This annual report shows how UNEP is building partnerships and momentum to build a global Green New Deal that can combat climate change and address the many interlinked environment and development challenges of the 21st century.

In 2008, a year marked by several major disasters, UNEP continued to fullfil its mandate to assist vulnerable or crisis-affected countries and communities by providing high-quality environmental expertise for assessments, and integrating environmental concerns in emergency response, post-crisis reconstruction, recovery projects and long-term sustainable development. In addition to these core services, UNEP further developed capacity and expertise under its disaster risk reduction and environmental cooperation pillars.
