In this article for the Independant, M. Mizanur Rahman, a Development Researcher and a Programme Officer at Islamic Relief Worldwide, and Javed Ameer, the Head of Programme at Islamic Relief Worldwide, show why, with the existing situation of the country, Bangladesh needs the enactment of a Disaster Management Act on an urgent basis: "the earlier practice of post-disaster response and recovery method is shifting towards the method of early preparedness for risk reduction."
