At the closing ceremony of the Sixth Caribbean Conference on Comprehensive Disaster Management (CDM), Attorney General and Minister of Home Affairs, Adriel Brathwaite, said that the "only way to get the missing voices on board is by making disaster risk reduction a part of the political process". According to the Barbados Advocate, the Conference Chair, Andria Grosvenor, noted that while political awareness had grown, it was still yet to be transferred into action. Several issues were raised, such as the need to mainstream CDM more aggressively at the national level, to e-visit the issue of risk transfer within the CDM agenda, to continue raising public awareness of CDM, among others.
