Work pertaining to the National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project (NCRMP) in Andhra Pradesh will commence by the last week of December and the tender process is expected to be completed by last week of September, reports IBN Live. Two states - Andhra Pradesh and Orissa - have been chosen for the first phase of the World Bank-assisted programme, which is to be completed in 2015.
According to VK Duggal, National Disaster Management Authority (NMDA) member, Andhra Pradesh and Orissa have been usual victims of cyclones in the past several decades, which is why the states have been chosen for the initial implementation of the national project.
