The newly constructed Multi-Purpose Cyclone Shelters (MPCS)will be managed and maintained by the local communities in Andhra Pradesh, India, reports The Hindu Business Line. Following a World Bank advice, the local government decided to have Community-based Cyclone Shelter Management, Maintenance Welfare Committees (CSMMWC). The cyclone shelters will function as schools and community centres and disaster preparedness centres when there are no emergencies.
