WMO Executive Council: sixty-sixth session

This report presents the progress made in the implementation of the disaster risk reduction as a WMO priority, and provides guidance on the proposed activities. It further presents an abridged final report with resolutions of the session and highlights activities related to WMO priorities: strategic and operational planning, global framework for climate services, WMO Information Systems (WIS) and WMO Integrated Global Observing System (WIGOS), capacity development, disaster risk reduction and aviation meteorological services.

It also reports on the UN-wide and global preparations of the post-2015 framework for DRR, as part of planning for the Third World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (WCDRR), and provides guidance and direction on developing WMO’s decadal strategy for DRR, with particular focus on efforts by WMO Members to fully implement early warning systems.

The sixty-sixth session of the WMO Executive Council was held 18–27 June 2014 in Geneva.
