Samoa national disaster management plan 2017
Publication Year
2017
The impact of some disasters can be particularly severe or widespread and exceed the capability of a single ministry or sector. The Samoa National Disaster Management Plan (NDMP) brings together the efforts of government agencies, civil society, villages, private sector, and development partners to deliver coordinated disaster risk maangement (DRM). The NDMP places emphasis on a mainstreamed and multi-sectoral approach for disaster resilience in Samoa, focusing on prevention, preparedness, response and recovery.
A holistic approach to Disaster Risk Management (DRM) is now being promoted - aimed at reducing the impacts of and increasing Samoa’s resilience to natural and human induced hazards. The Government of Samoa has taken steps to realise this expectation through prevention, preparedness, response and recovery planning.
