Slovenia: Resolution on the national programme of protection against natural and other disasters for the years 2024 to 2030 (ReNPVNDN24–30)
This resolution outlines Slovenia’s strategic framework for reducing disaster risk and strengthening national resilience from 2024 to 2030. It sets out a comprehensive, prevention‑focused approach to managing natural and other disasters, grounded in updated risk assessments, lessons learned from the 2016–2022 programme, and alignment with the Sendai Framework, EU civil protection mechanisms, and the Sustainable Development Goals. The document emphasizes understanding and reducing risks, improving preparedness, modernizing information and communication systems, and adapting to the growing impacts of climate change—particularly floods, wildfires, landslides, and extreme weather events. It also highlights the need for stronger coordination across government levels, investment in critical infrastructure, and the integration of scientific knowledge and digital technologies into all phases of disaster management.
The resolution further defines priority measures to enhance the capacity and professionalism of protection, rescue, and relief forces, while continuing to support the strong role of volunteers. It calls for upgraded training systems, improved early‑warning and alerting capabilities, expanded material reserves, and the establishment of new national centres for flood protection, wildfire management, and response to ice storms and severe weather. The programme also reinforces commitments to international cooperation, cross‑border coordination, and participation in EU civil protection initiatives.
