Portugal: Relatório de progresso - Estratégia nacional de adaptação às alterações climáticas
The National Strategy for Adaptation to Climate Change (ENAAC) was adopted through Resolution of the Council of Ministers nº 24/2010, April 1st. In summary, this Strategy was intended to increase awareness about climate change and its impacts, keep scientific knowledge updated and available, and, in an integrated way, define the measures that Portugal will have to adopt, like the international community, to minimize the effects of climate change.
In this sense, four objectives were defined for this Strategy:
- Information and knowledge;
- Reduce vulnerability and increase response capacity;
- Participate, raise awareness and publicize;
- Cooperate at an international level.
This report describes how the objectives established for the initial phase of the Strategy were achieved, identifying vulnerabilities and weaknesses and highlighting the essential strengths to continue.
