Pakistan: National Disaster Risk Reduction Strategy (NDRRS) 2025–2030
The National Disaster Risk Reduction Strategy (NDRRS) 2025–2030 serves as Pakistan's primary strategic roadmap for transitioning from a reactive, response-centric model to a proactive, risk-informed governance framework. Formulated by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), this strategy is anchored in the global targets of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction, the Paris Agreement, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It addresses the country’s acute vulnerability to climate-induced hazards—including intensifying monsoon patterns, glacial lake outburst floods (GLOFs), and extreme heatwaves—by prioritizing six core pillars: enhancing multi-hazard risk understanding, strengthening decentralized disaster governance, investing in structural and ecosystem-based resilience, modernizing early warning systems through AI and satellite technology, ensuring sustainable financing, and embedding social inclusion. Ultimately, the NDRRS 2025–2030 aims to safeguard lives, protect critical infrastructure, and foster a culture of national resilience that ensures no vulnerable community is left behind in the face of an evolving global climate crisis
