Community resilience action groups to strengthen climate resilience

This solution brief looks at how community resilience action groups (CRAGs) in Bangladesh are strengthening local governance and promoted sustainable, long-term community resilience in highly flood-prone districts. As part of the Zurich Climate Resilience Alliance (ZCRA), Concern Worldwide is working in Hatibandha and Sundarganj upazilas to establish community resilience action groups (CRAGs) and improve community flood resilience by mobilising communities and facilitating joint planning with government agencies. 

The CRAGs’ advocacy led to the inclusion of community-identified priorities in union budgets and annual development plans, which in turn enhanced access to climate-smart agriculture, improved early warning systems and early response, and strengthened flood-resilient infrastructure.
