Climate CH2025: Switzerland's future climate
Climate CH2025 provides the most up-to-date assessment of past and future climate change in Switzerland. Building on CH2018, it incorporates longer observational records, improved process understanding, and data from new high-resolution, convection-permitting models.
With this report, we introduce the concept of global warming levels (GWLs) to the Swiss climate change scenarios. GWLs indicate how much the planet’s average temperature has risen above pre-industrial times. Since land regions such as central Europe warm faster than the global average, each global warming level corresponds to even higher levels of regional warming in central Europe. The use of GWLs establishes a direct link between international climate policy limits (e.g., 1.5 ºC) and their expected impacts in Switzerland.
