Bridge resilience system manual and system implementation
This report presents the Bridge Resilience System (BRS), an integrated digital platform that shifts bridge management from a reactive, distress-based model to a proactive, resilience-oriented framework for disaster risk reduction. Aimed at bridge authorities, DRR institutes, and transport ministries, it addresses the rising frequency of natural hazards that sever critical logistics corridors and delay rescue and relief operations.
The report concludes that a multi-criteria decision-making module integrates structural, financial, risk, and socio-economic criteria to optimise fund allocation across bridge networks. A pilot in Kolhapur district, India, applying the associated risk and vulnerability guidelines, demonstrated the proactive approach's value for identifying bridges needing resilience investment.
