Assessment tools for school disaster resilience: An integrative review

This study reviews existing assessment tools used to measure school disaster resilience. The authors emphasize that resilient schools ensure student safety and educational continuity. The review aimed to identify, evaluate, and synthesize existing assessment tools for measuring school disaster resilience. 

The review found that existing school disaster resilience tools generally focus on structural, non-structural, and functional aspects of resilience. However, psychosocial resilience was identified as critical but underrepresented, with only a few tools assessing psychological preparedness and support mechanisms for students and teachers. Although the tools address essential dimensions of resilience, they often lack adaptability to regional specifics, limiting their effectiveness across diverse socio-economic and geographic contexts. The authors conclude that more robust, context-specific tools are needed that encompass both physical and human resilience, and recommend incorporating regional flexibility into future tool development to strengthen school resilience, educational continuity, and community safety during crises.
