Disability in humanitarian context: views from affected people and field organisations
This report is based on the results of a global consultation carried out in 2015 as contribution to the World Humanitarian Summit and is intended to better identify the changes needed for a disability-inclusive humanitarian response.
According to the report, ensuring inclusion of persons with disabilities during emergency response must be considered a core component of principled and effective humanitarian action. Progress has recently been made in the way humanitarian frameworks and policies address the issue of inclusion such as the post-2015 Disaster Risk Reduction framework consultation process and the Sendai outcomes, however actors continue to face difficulties in translating those policies into action.
