Consultative meeting for communicating the disaster risk of Atta Abad lake, Hunza
This paper presents the outcomes of a meeting convened to communicate about the major risk of disaster for the neighbouring villages and the inhabitants downstream following the land-slide hitting the Hunza River in January 2010. It analyses the situation and provides practical recommendations for an effective response based on the extremely important place of communication at all stages of disaster management, from pre-disaster preparedness to post disaster reconstruction and rehabilitation.
