BDSG activity report: youth exchange program in DRR
This report analyzes the activities and impacts of disaster risk reduction (DRR) programs for youth in Japan, through the Waseda Student Organization for the Education of Natural Disaster (WASEND), and in Indonesia, through the Bandung Disaster Study Group (BDSG). Additionally, the report summarizes the experiences of youth who participated in the DRR homestay exchange program between BDSG and WASEND.
The paper is organized into five sections: (i) section one elaborates on the DRR youth activities organized WASEND in Japan; (ii) section two explains the DRR youth activities organized by BDSG in Indonesia; (iii) section three analyzes the impacts of these DRR activities on youth; (iv) section four concludes the study by outlining four keys to success in youth DRR programs; (v) section five suggests plans for the future of Japanese and Indonesian youth networking programs in DRR, including the perpetuation of the homestay exhange.
