Mission
Vadodara undertakes disaster risk reduction activities with a strong emphasis on extreme heat, flooding, and urban resilience. Through municipal governance and coordination with the Government of Gujarat, Vadodara implements preparedness and response measures for heatwaves, including heat action planning, public awareness campaigns, early warning dissemination, and targeted outreach to vulnerable populations such as outdoor workers, older persons, and low-income communities. The city also addresses flood risk through drainage management, emergency response planning, and coordination with state disaster management authorities. These efforts are supported by broader urban planning, public health engagement, and interagency coordination, reflecting Vadodara’s approach to reducing climate-related risks while strengthening preparedness and resilience in a rapidly urbanizing context.

Voluntary Commitments
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
