The Humanitarian Practice Network (HPN) is an independent forum where field workers, managers and policymakers in the humanitarian sector share information, analysis and experience HPN’s aim is to improve the performance of humanitarian action by contributing to individual and institutional learning.

Integrating aftershock forecasting into humanitarian decision-making: lessons from the April 2015 Nepal earthquake
Scientists from the University of Edinburgh and Concern Worldwide have collaborated to integrate forecasts of earthquake aftershocks into humanitarian planning, preparedness and response decision-making processes. They are also developing a training and support programme for humanitarian workers on how to interpret the forecasts and use them in emergency situations.

The organization has no registered commitments.

The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
