India has set targets to manage disasters and ensure that losses incurred after each catastrophe are less than the previous ones. But current data on previous disasters is insufficient and needs to be further disaggregated to be useful. The government has thus planned to create a national database on disasters in the next two years.
On July 27, 2017, the Sustainable Environment and Ecological Development Society (SEEDS), a non-profit organisation, collaborated with Honeywell India to kickstart a school safety and disaster risk reduction programme across 50 government schools in East Delhi.

Around 200 million young people worldwide are affected each year by reported disasters and thousands of them are killed and injured. The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
