Mission
On 4 November 2009 the first general meeting of The Adaptation Network was held in Cape Town at the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens at which the network was formalized and an administrative structure and core direction of the network’s work were established. The second General Meeting of The Adaptation Network was held on 25 March 2010 at the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Gardens in Roodepoort, at which decisions were consolidated and plans were made for 2010.
Membership is open to all working or interested in community based adaptation, who subscribe to the values and objectives of The Adaptation Network.
Voluntary Commitments
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
