International centre of excellence on transforming development and disaster risk launches new collaborative platform weTRANSFORM

By Jamie Kemsey

weTRANSFORM is a new collaborative platform on transformation for equitable, resilient and sustainable development and disaster risk reduction (DRR). The International Centre of Excellence on Transforming Development and Disaster Risk (ICoE-TDDR) invites interested scientists, practitioners and decision makers to join our weTRANSFORM community and share knowledge, perspectives and news.

The platform will serve as virtual collaboration space for DRR, adaptation, resilience and sustainable development stakeholders, providing open access to high-quality information and fostering new and existing networks. weTRANSFORM builds on the experience and partnerships generated over the past 10 years by weADAPT to focus on transformation.

weTRANSFORM will help enhance knowledge and action on transformation in the disaster, climate change and sustainable development contexts, in connection with the Sendai Framework, Paris Agreement and SDGs. Initially, the platform will focus on four main themes – transformation, equitable resilience, decision-making trade-offs, and adaptive governance. It promises to be rigorous, diligent and open and to serve as a forward-looking tool that adapts and grows in step with science and with policy agendas.

weTRANSFORM will launch at the 2019 Global Platform on DRR in Geneva, taking place from 15 to 17 May.

ICoE-TDDR is hosted by SEI and supported by the Integrated Research on Disaster Risk (IRDR) programme.
