UN warns climate change is drowning Senegal

Senegal's home minister Abdoulaye Daouda Diallo said that more nationwide coordination was needed for civil protection: 'We are thinking of setting up an office to provide more resources but we think we already have the means to put in place a national plan that can coordinate all government actions in the context of disaster risk management,' reports AFP

The Home minister met with Margareta Wahlstrom, the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction during her visit to Dakar as part of preparations for a new global disaster risk-reduction strategy, which will be renewed in 2015.
