Tsunami plan calls for early warning system for Tonga

Upload your content

Tonga's National Tsunami Plan considers an early warning system as essential, since the country is rated to be at "extreme" tsunami risk, reports Islands Business. 80 per cent of the population lives in low lying coastal areas, which would make the impact of a tsunami on the island particularly devastating. The plan details the evacuation and recovery arrangements as well.
