The UK's Environment Agency is expecting significantly higher risk of flooding for the autumn and winter months, reports the Guardian. The warning comes a few months after the government has announced its proposal to cut financial support for some flood defences. Insurance companies have announced that they are considering ending their insurance of homes for flood.
As one in six homes are affected by flood risk, the Agency advises property owners to check their flood risk and sign up to receive free flood warnings at www.environment-agency.gov.uk/flood.
