After the annual drill, seismologists said California (USA) is overdue for another megaquake that can be predicted with certainty but can only be prepared for imprecisely. Thomas Jordan, director of the Southern California Earthquake Center, said "the San Andreas fault is locked and loaded and ready to rumble," and David Schwartz, of the U.S. Geological Survey, to add "we think our next big earthquake will occur right in the middle of the urban center." They are working on an early warning system and hope one day to say: "There's an app for that." Meanwhile, "A few seconds of warning is good. Years of preparation is better," comments CBS News.
