As the nature, frequency, and scale of disasters grows, the philanthropic sector needs to shift its focus to preparedness through a shared sense of urgency and a commitment to improving data infrastructure, reads an article in the Stanford Social Innovation Review (SSIR).

According to the article, SSIR's experience offers insight on the sector’s preparedness in two critical areas—a shared sense of urgency and improved data infrastructure—that have implications for philanthropic practice generally, regardless of how one defines “disaster.”
