The project “Protecting Cultural Heritage from the Consequences of Disasters”- PROCULTHER is implemented by a Consortium made of the Italian Civil Protection Department (Italy), as coordinator, the Ministère de l’Intérieur - Direction Générale de la Sécurité Civile et de la Gestion des Crises (France), the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Regional Government of Castilla y León (Spain), the Ministry of Interior - Disaster and Emergency Management Authority - AFAD (Turkey), the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM) and the Fondazione Hallgarten - Franchetti Centro Studi Villa Montesca.
PROCULTHER is co-funded by the European Commission Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (DG ECHO), it began in January 2019 and will last until December 2020.
PROCULTHER is contributing to develop the capacities of UCPM Participating States to protect cultural heritage by placing this issue at the top of national European agendas and making the enhancement of cultural heritage resilience a common goal. In particular, PROCULTHER will focus on establishing a UCPM driven multinational and multi-sectoral capacity for the safeguard of cultural heritage in emergency based on the definition of a European common methodology and technical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in this field.
To achieve these ambitious results, PROCULTHER Partners are pooling their expertise and capacities with professionals from UCPM Participating States and third countries and will be engaged in the fields of:
PREPAREDNESS, by improving collaboration and coordination arrangements among national disaster management players, resulting in better organized and more effective national civil protection systems.
CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT, by developing concrete tools and technical support aimed at enhancing national discussion on the development of national capacities in the field of cultural heritage protection.
DISASTER RISK MANAGEMENT, by providing availability of a UCPM led multi-national capacity supporting national response actions for the protection of cultural heritage in case of emergency.
